This slideshow consists of photos taken by Don Laufer and myself (Priscilla Sokolowski) in the Eugene area from May 5 to May 7, 2019. There are a few photos at the beginning of Wilson's phalaropes which were taken last year at this time (May 15, 2018) at Fisher Unit. They are included because this species is only a short-term annual migrant so we get very few photos of them. We do have some more distant photos of Wilson's Phalaropes taken this year at Fisher Unit, further down in the slide show.

Swallow Pond is located between Seneca and Bailley Hill Rds and between W. 5th and W. 7th Avenues. We park in the parking lot of the Shelton-Printing Co one block west of Seneca
Fisher Unit is accessed from a parking lot off W. 11th (Hwy 126) a half-mile west of Fisher Rd

Birds included (Highlights); Wilson's Phalaropes; Solitary Sandpiper; Bald Eagle pair; Cinnamon Teal; Warbling Vireo; Bewick's Wren; Common Yellowthroat; Turkey Vulture-CLOSE-UPS!.

Solitary Sandpiper: Field Mark is the complete white eye-ring extending back making a teardrop shape. Not so well seen are tiny faint dark markings along the edge of the tail. (We saw them clearly when the bird flew).

A series of photos show a Raven with a (probably Duck egg) stolen from a nest as it is harassed by several Red-winged Blackbird. The Blackbirds eventually force the Raven down where it drops the egg then tries to pick it up but is dive-bombed until releasing the egg and flying off.

Finally, I have included some enlargements of nearly perfect Bald Eagle tail feathers
