Row River Park Birding
with Coast Fork Birders of Cottage Grove

DARK BROWN background

Nola Nelson (of BOGS) forwarded to the BOGS membership, an email announcing a bird walk at the Row River Nature Park just west of Cottage Grove. Both Marylee and I went there to participate with the Coast Fork Birders group. I had a great time with this very nice group of birders. (Barbara Butzer, Nola, Julie, Allison, Jim, Ed, Grace)...
My apologies to any whose names I have forgotten!!

One of the highlights for some members of this group was seeing a Wilson's Snipe right out in the open, allowing me to take some nice photos. I wish I had managed to get a video showing how it almost danced - slowly - along the log when it went hunting for food. I notice that the last eBird report of a Wilson's Snipe at this location was in 2011 by Tom Mickel. I'm sure they are seen by folks birding there from time to time, but many birders do not file their checklists with eBird.

Some Pine Siskins happened to land very nearby in a small tree

A Bald Eagle was spotted way ahead of us in a tall tree. At first, without binoculars, only the white head was seen.
