Raptor Run Research Trip,

Jan 16, 2018

Steve and I have been talking about possibly doing a "Raptor Run" on Jan 25. I decided to do some scouting to come up with some options for our route. From eBird reports by local birders I had information about a Great Horned Owl sitting on a nest, and some of the fields where Tundra Swans spend the days Wintering in our Valley. I already knew about Short-eared Owls at the Diamond Hill Wetlands. These do not often come out during mid-day, but sometimes they are seen in late morning or an hour or two before sunset.

It was a great day. I found each of the species I was specifically looking for and got some very nice photographs of most of them as well.
